But why is it called Z3 + instead of something like Z4? Is it really the next-generation successor of the Z3 released earlier? Or is it just an update? Let's take a look.
From the outside, the Z3 + is almost the same as its predecessor. However, there are some minor modifications, such as moving the front camera from right to left and some other design settings. It is lighter though. The size of the screen remains the same with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 and a pixel density of 428 ppi. Yes, four pixels added per inch. That's technically an update, right?
The real difference is seen under the hood. The Z3 + runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset (unlike the Snapdragon 801 running the Z3) and adds four more cores on the CPU. Now it has a Cortex-A57 Quad-core processor at 1.5 GHz and Quad-core at 2.0 GHz. The GPU also upgrades from Adreno 330 to Adreno 430. Therefore, beauty is really a beast from the inside when it comes to performance. The internal memory has received 32 GB as standard with 3 gigs of RAM, which can easily and smoothly run the new Android v6.0 Marshmallow (which is expected to reach the device through an OTA update).
The main camera of 20.7 megapixels, however, continues to survive once again, making its way into the Z3 +. Three strokes should be enough for this sensor. It has an aperture of f / 2.0 and an LED flash that would help in low light conditions. It also records videos in 4K at 30 frames per second and in slow motion at 720p at 120 frames per second, which is a flagship standard these days. The front camera, however, finally gets the much-needed update. It now includes a 5.1 megapixel sensor with an aperture of f / 2.4, which makes Sony return to the selfie.
The battery degrades again, this time it is a 2930 mAh. But Sony has tried to compensate by adding Quick Charge 2.0 in all versions of the device (unlike the Japanese variant that has this feature in the Z3). Charge the device 60% in 30 minutes, so it's not a bad business here as well. Therefore, the Xperia Z3 + can surely be called as an update to the previously released Z3, leaving the mystery of its name still unresolved.
